Preparing Vergil

How you prepare the passages for the weekly readings is up to you. Many classes use Barbara Boyd's book (Vergil's Aeneid), but I find it overly helpful. It's hard to learn if everything's handed to you.  I would ask you to use the text on the Perseus website for your regular preparation. I'll show you how in the first meeting.

The best translation I know of is Robert Fagels (here at Amazon.com). Ask for it as an early Christmas gift.

Classes

You will meet with me online twice a week (Tuesday/Friday 2:15-3:45) in a live, two-way conferencing program. I will send you login information before each class. You will need to have a headset with your computer. Live classes are conducted here.

Warning

Avoid Vergil AP websites. Despite the unassailable intentions, ingenuity, and indefatigable energy of their authors, these sites are usually very cluttered and require almost as much time to navigate as it might to read the entire Aeneid. Just stick with me. I'll help you learn everything you need to know. If you put in the time, you'll get a top score on the exam.
